Doctors in health centres in North Kivu come to the aid of war-torn populations.

1/ Artemisia cultivation to assist displaced populations

In DRC, NGO La LIDE, partner of SOS-Enfants France and the DRC House of Artemisia are working together in the war zone of North Kivu in Beni, Butembo and Rwanguba to:

  • spread Artemisia cultivation
  • distribute herbal tea at health centres built for those displaced by the war.

A group of doctors in the North is committed to promoting the use of Artemisia in five hospitals* located in areas where displaced persons have settled during the wars and to contribute to the eradication of malaria in these areas.

NGO La LIDE has already produced 3,576 cures used by Dr. Kahindo Riziki,  Dr. Jean Luc, Dr. Augustin and Dr. Floribert in health center hospitals.

In Ruanguba in Rutshuru territory, Dr. Dady BAT, Medical Director at the Rwanguba Reference Health Centre is very active in the cultivation and distribution of Artemisia to the war-affected population. It has produced 2.5 tons or 62,500 cures of 40g.

Distribution to end users is handled by the House of Artemisia in Petit Nord Kivu, directed by Dr. Patient Kaloma.

2/Soon epidemiological studies in the region

This consumption of Artemisia by the poorest populations will be the framework for future epidemiological and possibly clinical studies.
